What is Pyoderma Faciale?     What is Acne?     What is Rosacea?     About Me

Pyoderma faciale (sometimes also called rosacea fulminans) is a very rare, and a very fast developing skin disease. It occurs only in females aged around 20 to 40, and it only affects the face.

It hits you out of nowhere. Pimples, that will soon contain an enormous amount of pus, form rapidly until the entire face is completely disfigured. Eyes and mouth are spared.

It is not contagious and there is no bacterial infection in PF. But its severity will probably interrupt your life thoroughly. In other words, your career, your daily grocery shopping, and for damn sure your love life, will take a major hit.

Eventually, the pimples release their pus, either individually or they form a sub-skin canal system, and the combined pus ends up in skin pockets which eventually drain.

Pyoderma faciale lasts 6 months to a year. It leaves major scars.

What is the purpose of this site?

To raise awareness, and maybe to give a tiny glimmer of hope to the women who suffer from this nightmare: This hell is survivable. It definitely helps to know what you're dealing with.

Because pyoderma faciale is such a rare disease, even dermatologists might struggle to diagnose it correctly. At least that is what happened in my case. One doctor even assured me that, although he was not able to identify whatever caused me looking like a monster, it was definitely contagious. Totally scary. Also, totally wrong.

But enough about me. Unless you want to hear more About Me.
